Capcom renamed the classic Resident Evil 4 on Steam ahead of the release of the remake

Capcom has updated the name of the classic version of the survival horror Resident Evil 4 on PC on Steam.

Although the publisher did not announce the changes, players who have the original Resident Evil 4 in the Steam library noticed that the project is now called Resident Evil 4 (2005) with the year of release added in parentheses.

Apparently, the renaming of Resident Evil 4 to Resident Evil 4 (2005) is due to the upcoming release of the official remake, so as not to confuse players with different projects with the same name.

In March, Capcom will release a completely updated version of the horror, but without the prefix "remake" in the title, which could lead to some confusion when the game goes on sale.

The remake of Resident Evil 4 is scheduled for release on March 24, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 and PC on Steam.
