Death Stranding 2, it seems, will not return one of the characters of the first part

At The Game Awards 2022, the development of Death Stranding 2 was officially announced.

The first trailer for the sequel confirmed the return of a number of main characters from the first part, including Norman Reedus, Lea Seydoux and Troy Baker.

They will also be joined by several new faces, including Elle Fanning and Shiori Kutsuna, however, it seems that at least one character from the original game will not return in the sequel.

This concerns Hartman, whose image was based on Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn, and motion capture and voice acting were used from actor Darren Jacobs.

In one of the tweets immediately after the ceremony, Jacobs said that she was looking forward to Death Stranding 2 and that he was proud to participate in the work on the first game.

When asked in the comments if this meant that Hartman would not appear in the sequel, the actor replied with a crying emoji and then deleted the tweet.

There are no details about the plot of Death Stranding 2 at the moment, but Hideo Kojima notes that this will not be a classic sequel. The project has no release date yet.
