New details of the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 4 by Japanese publisher Capcom have appeared online.
The editors of Game Informer magazine got acquainted with the current build of the project and began to share their first impressions. Additional details will be revealed throughout the next month.
The production of the Resident Evil 4 remake was never part of Capcom's long—term plans - the authors did not come to the creation of the game immediately.
Instead of inventing a completely new project, the developers decided to take the original material and improve it in everything.
The developers sought to give players maximum freedom in relation to the passage of various gameplay sections and push them to repeat the passage to get new impressions.
There will be no QTE segments in the game. At least in the cutscenes — this element has retired.
In the inventory, you can carry several types of knives at once. The game is designed in such a way that its passage can be completed with only knives.
The laser pointer from the original will return. It will be presented as an optional upgrade for some weapons.
The yellow grass, which restores the maximum health of the heroes, will also return. By knocking the enemy to the ground, Leon can initiate a special animation with finishing off the enemy.
This will help him not only destroy the monster faster, but also block the appearance of the Las Plagas parasite.
If the fallen Ganado is not killed immediately, he will recover from convulsions, rise and become stronger — with or without Las Plagas. The bodies of monsters break and disfigure during battles.
Reviewers found the new version of Resident Evil 4 more difficult than the original. The enemies have become smarter and more agile, but Leon will also have more tools to fight them.
These are not only weapons, but also various traps. The bear traps will return.
On the right stick hangs the ability to give orders to Ashley. The girl can be asked to stay closer or move away.
It is impossible to completely stop its movement. The trash bins where Ashley hid in the original will not be in the remake either.
Ashley doesn't have her own health bar. After the girl receives a certain amount of damage, she will fall into a "critical state" from which Leon needs to save her.
If the player does not have time to revive Ashley before a certain moment or she is attacked again by opponents, the game will end. In the remake, Ashley became less brash and more serious.
She is scared, but she tries to gather her courage and follow Leon's orders, including helping him — for example, squeezing into various places and passing the tools necessary for promotion.
Journalists praised the voice actress of the heroine. The arsenal will be replenished with at least one new type of weapon.
We are talking about a special crossbow. The list of opponents has also expanded.
Players will encounter a new dangerous infected wielding a hammer and wearing a bull's head on his face.
There will be other "newcomers" among the enemies, but the developers don't want to talk about them yet. All bosses from the original Resident Evil 4 will light up in the remake.
The battles with some of them have been completely rethought. Additional secondary tasks and activities will appear in certain sections of the game.
Some may require you to return to the locations you have already studied or solve puzzles. The old puzzles have undergone changes.
New mini-games are expected. Certain sidequests are tied to collecting, while others promise to become more complex.
In one of the missions, you need to deal with an infected dog — Leon will meet her at a certain house only when tracking tips and observing the necessary conditions.
Some quests cannot be returned to when moving to a new game zone — the merchant will give Leon the appropriate hints. In general, he became more talkative.
In the remake of Resident Evil 4, you will be able to buy new suitcases for weapons.
They not only expand the number of inventory blocks, but also offer auxiliary improvements, such as increasing the chance to get ammunition from dead enemies.
The section with the defense of the house will return. Here players will be able to barricade windows, as it was in Resident Evil 2 version 2019.
