In January of this year, Bandai Namco shut down the servers of computer versions of the Dark Souls trilogy due to an exploit that allowed unscrupulous users to secretly gain remote access to other players' PCs through multiplayer role-playing action games.
To fix the vulnerability, online games had to be temporarily disabled. First of all, the problem was solved in Dark Souls III, whose network functions returned on August 28.
Then, on October 25, the online was restored in Dark Souls II, and today the servers started working again in the remaster of the first Dark Souls.
The announcement was made via the Dark Souls series Twitter account. In the message, the developers also once again thanked the players for their patience, understanding and support.
Now online works in all PC versions of the trilogy, with the exception of the original Dark Souls in the Prepare to Die Edition, released in 2012.
FromSoftware did not back down from its decision to close the servers of this version of the project forever, citing the "obsolescence of the systems" used in the original game.
