God of War: Ragnarok is coming out very soon, so PlayStation 4 owners should probably be interested in how the game works on the old console compared to PlayStation 5.

Kotaku portal tested the new exclusive on PS4, purchased on the launch day.

The version of God of War: Ragnarok for the base console only works in 1080p, but the image looks quite clear and clean, despite the reduced resolution, and performance is mostly kept at 30 frames per second, except for large battles with an abundance of effects and enemies, during which FPS drops are noticeable.

Nevertheless, the game has never fallen to the level of unplayability, and a good implementation of motion blur helps to keep the gameplay fairly smooth.

However, with all this, the X-ray version still has one serious drawback. According to the reviewer, God of War: Ragnarok makes the PS4 sound like a jet engine.

Before testing, he cleaned the console from dust, but during the game the console became so loud that he had to turn up the TV sound a lot to drown out the noise made by the PS4.

"Even being in the main menu made my PS4 scream. I've never heard my PS4 make so much noise before.

It was even scary."

The reviewer concludes that at first it was difficult for him to get used to the lower frame rate on PS4 after more than 35 hours on PS5, but after about 20 minutes he got used to 30 FPS and did not experience any discomfort while enjoying the game.

"PS5 is probably the best platform for God of War: Ragnarok if you want to get all the bells and whistles. But if you can't afford a PS5, don't worry.

It may not be the prettiest version or the best way to play it, but the game works great on PS4 and does its job. Just turn the TV on louder so you don't hear the console die."
