Against the background of the incredible popularity of Hi-Fi RUSH, the release of the Theatrhythm Final Bar Line from Square Enix was almost unnoticed.

This is a continuation of the musical line of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, prepared on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Final Fantasy.

The basic version of the new game offers 385 tracks from the numbered parts of the franchise and numerous branches, and thanks to paid extensions, everyone will be able to stretch the pleasure with melodies from such Square Enix universes as NieR, SaGa, Live a Live, Xenogears, Mana, Chrono, The World Ends With You and even Octopath Traveler.

DLC is planned to be released at least until the end of 2023. The very concept of the rhythm game has hardly changed since the first Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.

The project is divided into chapters — everything starts in the section of the original Final Fantasy, where the characters go through stages to the music from the original source, get acquainted with the key events of the game and deal with bosses by pressing buttons to the rhythm of the music.

All levels are divided into research and battles — in the first case, the developers offer a story where the characters just go somewhere, which is reflected in the softness and slowness of the melody.

But it is necessary to engage in battle with monsters, and the melody accelerates, acquiring an aggressive rhythm.

In the process of clearing the levels, items are opened that simplify the passage, and keys that unlock access to the next chapters of Final Fantasy and music from them.

After Final Fantasy II, you can choose games in any order.

At the same time, some sections, like Final Fantasy XIII-2 and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, demonstrate musical scarcity against the background of the same Final Fantasy XIV, offering 36 tracks.

In addition to successfully pressing the buttons, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line relies on role-playing elements.

You can assemble a team of heroes from different parts of Final Fantasy and guide them through all the key events of the series, pumping them as they complete the stages.

New levels unlock abilities that affect the completion of side quests and the success of battles.

For example, making mistakes in the rhythm section, you lose the health of the team, but if you have strong magicians, then health can be restored.

Or the secondary task is to inflict ice damage to the boss. If you equip the team with powerful ice magic and add Shiva to the challenge, then the task will be solved.

Using the available spells, skills of heroes and sammons is the key to maximum efficiency. In the later stages, magic and the right items will save you from a possible failure.

As for the rhythm game itself, all parts of the series differ in the level of difficulty that can be adjusted before the start of the stage.

But even in the light mode, the average difficulty levels can give you a lot of real problems, especially if effects start to fall on the screen, distracting you from pressing the right buttons in a timely manner.
