The role-playing game Forspoken from the creators of Final Fantasy XV for PlayStation 5 and PC was once again postponed — this time from October 11, 2022 to January 24, 2023. Square Enix called the solution "strategic".
The statement says that the development of the game has already been completed — now the studio Luminous Productions is finishing polishing. However, after consulting with key partners, Square Enix came to the conclusion that it would be better to launch the game in 2023.
Forspoken is an important new franchise for Square Enix, and the company seems to want to provide it with the most "safe" launch in a quiet season, where the game will not have to compete for audience attention with a lot of other high-profile projects. Among the releases of the upcoming fall are God of War: Ragnarok, Gotham Knights and Hogwarts Legacy.
During the same period, Square Enix itself is also preparing to publish several games for fans of Japanese RPGs, including will pass by the end of the summer.
