The next competitive season Overwatch will be the last for the game

Overwatch support is coming to an end. Blizzard stops working on the game in preparation for the sequel.

Representatives of the company confirmed that the 36th season in Overwatch, starting in early September, will be the last for the game.

Blizzard was scheduled to kick off the competition on September 2, but the launch was delayed due to technical difficulties.

Developers promised to comment on a situation later, however, probably, it will be the shortest season in the history of team shooter.

The company does not have time for a 10-week ranked game, so fans assume that season 36 will be the basis for an experimental patch that implements some of the features of Overwatch 2, transferring data from the original game.

Another feature of the season will be the absence of the possibility of buying lootboxes, which is already disabled in the game.

However, players can still earn rewards by leveling up before September 15, when all remaining lootboxes will be opened in preparation for the transition to Overwatch 2.

The original Overwatch was released in mid-2016, and the sequel is scheduled for release on October 4, 2022.
