The Western press has already played the DLC and published reviews. The scores of the add-on were lower than the main game.

On Open Critics, the DLC currently has only 75 points, while the original Resident Evil: Village has an average score of 84 out of 100 on the same aggregator.

What reviewers write:Hobby Consolas: "Winters' Expansion is an interesting addition, although it pales in comparison to what Capcom did for Resident Evil 7.

DLC includes much less content, less diverse and less unexpected. And it's very sad because Capcom had enough material to tell new stories or focus on other characters, starting with Lady Dimitrescu."

Attack of the Fanboy: "Shadows of Rose became the main decoration of Winters' Expansion.

It's an emotional and heartbreaking story that doesn't let go until the end and is one of the best DLC ever released in the Resident Evil series."

PlayStation Universe: "Winters' Expansion is filled with great content and is definitely worth the money to pay for it.

While Shadows of Rose seems a bit stripped down in terms of potential, it's still a great DLC with a focus on storytelling and a unique take on some familiar locations, and the third-person view and additional content for The Mercenaries mode are the cherry on the cake."

GamingBolt: "Winters' Expansion never feels like a necessary and mandatory addition, but those who liked the base game will still find a lot of interesting things here."

VGChartz: "The add-on suffers from cliched situations, reused environments and overly intrusive gameplay.

Nevertheless, it's still a pretty good DLC that sums up certain things, draws a line and adds some interesting mechanics and monsters."

The Shadows of Rose supplement completes the story of the Winters family and focuses on Ethan's grown-up daughter, Rose.

The expansion events take place 16 years after the Village finale in the realm of consciousness of Megamicelia, where players will explore the surreal version of Alcina Dimitrescu's castle, new humanoid monsters and the use of supernatural abilities of the heroine.

In addition to Shadows of Rose, the composition of Winters' Expansion also includes a third-person view for the main game and new playable characters for The Mercenaries mode.
