Game Informer magazine has started publishing materials dedicated to the upcoming fantastic action movie God of War Ragnarok for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles.
The opening article of the month of exclusives is devoted to the story of the combat system of the project.
The God of War Ragnarok combat system is a direct development of the foundation laid in the 2018 God of War.
The developers looked at the previously implemented mechanics, and then set out to diversify them as much as possible - to offer players more options during battles, while increasing the dynamics and fascination of what is happening on the screen.
At the beginning of the passage of God of War Ragnarok, users will have access to an already familiar and familiar arsenal.
In particular, we are talking about the axe Leviathan, the Blade of Chaos and the bow of Atreus - all these things are powerful as before to use to create effective ligaments, finding optimal solutions for different groups of enemies.
In addition to direct use in combat, the chaos blades mentioned above will also become a tool for moving around the arenas - Kratos will be able to grab onto various parts of the environment and attract himself to them.
One of the new mechanics in God of War Ragnarok will be a system of elemental attacks.
In particular, by pressing the triangle button, Leviathan and The Blades of Chaos will be engulfed by the ice and fire elements, respectively.
These temporary power-ups allow you to inflict increased damage, as well as impose status effects on enemies. The block system has also been expanded.
Now, instead of one universal shield, Kratos will have access to several alternative versions of the block at once. The article gives two examples.
So, one of the shields is designed for quick and effective parrying, requiring the player to block attacks moments before receiving damage, which will allow you to bring down a powerful counterattack in response.
The second shield works differently - it is able to "absorb" all the incoming damage for a long time, converting it into energy, which can be powerfully sent to enemies.
As part of the natural gameplay progression, sometimes the God of War Ragnarok locations already studied by the heroes will be replenished with new opponents - stronger than those whom you killed before.
In addition, the game will offer completely optional content, including additional battle challenges, involving their own rewards and prizes.
New footage of God of War Ragnarok was shown in the video game Informer on the occasion of the presentation of the cover of the latest issue of the magazine: Recall that the world premiere of God of War Ragnarok should take place on November 9.
