On the Xbox and PC consoles, the Somerville adventure game was released about a family fleeing from an alien invasion.

The game was the debut of Jumpship Studio, which is led by Dino Patti, the former co-founder of Playdead, who produced Limbo and Inside.

The Western press has already got acquainted with the novelty and shared reviews. The project received from 75 to 77 points on Metacritic and 74 points on OpenCritic.

What they write in the reviews:GamingBolt: "Somerville is a flawed game where not all ideas are implemented flawlessly, but there is a lot to like in this short adventure, ranging from a fascinating story to an amazing visual."

Spaziogames: "Unlike Limbo and Inside, Somerville looks like an experimental and unfinished project with a confusing narrative and a lot of gameplay hitches."

GameSpew: "Somerville is not always the most enjoyable game. The puzzles are nothing special and are hampered by clumsy controls.

But what it does exclusively is narration and decoration.

The soundtrack is also great, but I would like it to be more, because too many scenes are too quiet, and the story, despite the disappointing finale, generally deserves attention.

It's just a pity that the gameplay in comparison with it was a little disappointing." Eurogamer: "Escape from an alien invasion, made with excellent artistic style."

GameInformer: "Somerville is held back by technical flaws, but is full of impressive moments that are worth experiencing by dimming the lights and raising the headphones higher.

My father's adventure is firmly stuck in my head and ultimately outweighs all the technical shortcomings.

I hope that time will make its adjustments and the game will be where it deserves to be - high in the sky with the ships of the invasion forces."

Also, the first opinions of the players began to appear on Steam. At the moment, the game collects mixed reviews - the user rating is 65%.

Players complain about poor optimization, various bugs and control problems, including the inability to select a keyboard and mouse.

At the same time, they praise the art design, atmosphere and sound design, but the project clearly needed additional polishing before release.

The first 25 minutes of the PC version:Somerville is available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC on Steam, EGS and Microsoft Store. Game Pass users can complete the game by subscription.
