April was the best month of the year for PlayStation 5 sales in Europe, but Switch continues to lead

The PlayStation 5 console showed in April the best month of sales in Europe this year. The information follows from the report published by the analytical firm GSD.

According to the publication, 289 thousand game consoles were sold in Europe last month. This is 15% less than in March.

The best-selling console in Europe in April once again became Switch - the Nintendo hybrid console leads in the region for the seventh consecutive month. This is followed by the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The data cover ten continental European countries, not including the UK and Germany, but it is known that in the British retail as of the end of April PS5 was in the lead.

As for the games, in April, their sales in Europe amounted to 10.8 million copies, which is 24% less than in March. The result includes digital sales in 30 tracked countries and retail sales in 16 tracked countries. Last month's best-selling game was LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, ahead of ELDEN RING, FIFA 22, Nintendo Switch Sports and Grand Theft Auto V.
