Sony, in an interview with the Brazilian regulator, answered several questions about Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, including sharing its thoughts on the Xbox Game Pass.
The Japanese platform owner believes that over the past five years, Game Pass has taken up between 60 and 70 percent of the global subscription market, while in Brazil, according to the company, the share of Xbox service is even higher at 70-80 percent.
The company believes that competitors will need "several years" to create an Xbox Game Pass rival, even with significant investment.
Sony claims that subscription-based services can compete with buying games for a one-time fee, but the low cost of subscriptions can be anti-competitive against publishers who pay off their investments using the Buy-to-Play model.
In addition, the company believes that the subscription model can lead to a deterioration in the quality of games released.
