The Japanese division of Nintendo has introduced a new policy, according to which the company has the right to refuse to repair or replace goods if the behavior of the customer who applied is considered offensive to technical support staff.

In October, Nintendo made changes to the terms of customer service, adding a new section on claims from customers.

Now the company reserves the right to refuse to replace or repair products when customers' actions "go beyond socially acceptable", including in cases of threats, insults or an excessive number of requests with the same question or complaint.

The full list lists the following actions that may lead to a maintenance failure:Intimidation or threats. Offensive or degrading statements.

Invasion of privacy. Excessive demands, for example, free repairs after the warranty period.

Demanding an apology from Nintendo or its employees without sufficient justification. Excessive repetition of the same request or complaint.

Defamatory comments on social networks or websites. If the company considers that any of these actions have taken place, the customer may be refused to replace or repair the goods.

Moreover, if it is deemed that the behavior was malicious, the company will contact the police and lawyers to take appropriate action.

At the moment, there is no law in Japan prohibiting harassment by customers to staff, but some companies include anti-harassment rules in their terms and conditions.
