A remaster of the iconic high-speed arcade race F-Zero GX is being prepared for the Nintendo Switch, according to sources of the Nintendo Prime YouTube channel.

The development is handled by the studio Next Level Games, known for the adventure of Luigi's Mansion 3. The original game was launched in 2003 on GameCube.

“I was informed that the remaster of F-Zero GX, which we previously mentioned with reference to other people, is indeed being developed by Next Level Games,” the message says.

The F-Zero GX, which for a long time became the last stationary part of the racing series, was developed as part of a collaboration between Nintendo and Sega.

The producer was Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi. The F-Zero series has remained inactive since the introduction of the F-Zero Climax on the Game Boy Advance in 2004.

At the same time, the mascot of the Captain Falcon franchise is presented as a fighter in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. F-Zero content is also available in Mario Kart 8 and Nintendo Land.

Fans have been asking Nintendo to return to the franchise for many years.
