Microsoft has applied to register an Xbox controller with a display.

The document notes that the patented technology will allow developers to display various messages on the screen built into the accessory, for example, about connecting to gaming systems.

The description states that the display will help players easily switch between platforms using a single input device without having to buy multiple devices.

The display itself is located on the front panel and looks like a touchpad in DualShock 4 or DualSense for PlayStation 5, despite the fact that it does not have similar functionality.

At the same time, the display can be used in an interactive format or to display useful information during gameplay.

It is important to clarify that patent registration does not mean that Microsoft will necessarily release an accessory, especially in the near future.
