Osaka-based Hosiden Corp has withdrawn its previously published sales forecast for the fiscal year. Information on this was found in a document sent to the Tokyo Stock Exchange.

The company stated that due to currency fluctuations and uncertainty regarding the procurement of semiconductors, it was unable to offer a reasonable forecast for the entire financial year.

Bloomberg reviewed the company's documents and found out that more than half of Hosiden's revenue comes from its partnership with Nintendo in Switch production.

Its problems are likely to cause a reduction in the production of hybrid consoles of the Japanese platform holder. Nintendo refused to comment on the Bloomberg article.

The Japanese company is due to announce its performance for the first quarter of the fiscal year (April-June of this year) on Wednesday, August 3.

In a recent report, Nintendo cited semiconductor shortages as a key factor in reducing switch sales by 26% year-on-year.

Nintendo plans to sell another 21 million Switch consoles this fiscal year, 2 million fewer than the previous year.
