Sony Announces Nextorage PCI-e 5.0 SSDs Up to 10,000 MB/s

A year ago, Sony introduced the Next Storage brand, under which it was going to release an SSD for the PlayStation 5.

Over time, it became clear that the company does not want to limit itself to consoles and will expand the range for enthusiasts.

At the Tokyo Game Show 2022, samples of solid state drives equipped with a PCIe 5 interface were shown. 0 x4.

The models are made in the form factor M. 2280 and have a memory capacity of 1 and 2 TB. The serial read speed reaches 9500 MB/s and the peak write speed is 8500 MB/s.

It is recommended to use a large radiator with an array of vertical fins as cooling. However, Nextorage G Series drives with PCIe 4 interface were shown.
