Sony has no plans to sell controllers for PlayStation VR 2 separately from the virtual reality helmet.

The situation may change in the future, but so far there are no intentions for a separate release of accessories. This information appeared on the official PlayStation blog.

PlayStation VR 2 Sense Controller controllers are covered by the warranty, however, in case of a breakdown, you will have to wait for repair.

Sony has also confirmed that PlayStation VR 2 controllers are not suitable for playing regular games. Without a helmet, they will only be suitable for navigating the PlayStation 5 menu.

The helmet will offer an OLED display with a resolution of 2000 × 2040 for each eye, support for HDR, 4K and frame rates of 90 or 120 Hz, as well as a field of view of 110 degrees.

One of the key features will be gaze tracking, which will provide a more intuitive interaction with virtual reality, and the foveal rendering technology will reduce computing power by displaying only the part of the screen that the user is looking at in maximum quality.

In addition, tracking the movement of the player's head and body will now occur with the help of cameras built into the helmet, which removes the need to use an external camera, as was implemented in the original PlayStation VR.

According to Sony, all of these improvements, combined with the functions of tactile feedback and adaptive triggers of touch controllers, will allow you to interact with virtual spaces on a much more intuitive level.

The launch of PlayStation VR 2 is scheduled for February 22, 2023.
