Katsuhiro Harada, a permanent producer of the Tekken series, is surprised by the performance of the current generation consoles.

The developer of Tekken 8 did not expect PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X to be so advanced against the background of modern PCs. Harada shared his thoughts on the iron market in an interview with IGN.

"From the point of view of PC-user console performance seems even a little dishonest. I love PC as a platform, I like to build my system, get an advantage in terms of performance and visual effects.

However, on this generation, the consoles surprised me very much with their power, especially taking into account their price compared to the cost of building a new PC, "Katsuhiro Harada shared his thoughts.

In the same interview, Harad spoke about the production of Tekken 8 on the Unreal Engine 5.

As explained by the developer, the project was initially prepared for Unreal Engine 4, but gradually began to be transferred to a new version of the toolkit — this immediately significantly improved the overall visual quality of fighting and opened up many new opportunities for developers.

In addition, Harada noted that Bandai Namco is working closely with Epic Games to ensure that Tekken 8 effectively uses the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5, including in the area of performance — given the genre specifics, it is very important for developers to keep the extremely low response time in the gameplay.

Tekken 8 does not currently have an exact release date.
