At the beginning of 2023, Google will close the cloud gaming platform Stadia.

So that at the same time users do not "get stuck" with branded controllers, the company is considering the possibility of releasing an update for gamepads that would unlock them for use via Bluetooth with other devices.

Now Google Stadia controllers can work with PCs, Macs and smartphones, but only through a wired connection.

"We have received a lot of requests for the Stadia controller to be able to work via Bluetooth, as well as for other functions that would preserve the functionality of the Stadia components after a complete shutdown of the service," the Stadia customer support service replied to one of the users.

"We will forward your feedback to our team so they can review the issue and possibly release a firmware that will make this possible."

Google has also previously promised to refund users money for purchased equipment and games for Stadia. The service will cease to exist on January 18, but the internal store is already disabled.

It is no longer possible to buy new content.
