Studio Alkimia Interactive in an interview with the German publication derStandard announced that it expects to release a remake of the Gothic role-playing game in 2024.
The developers consider such deadlines achievable, however, they note that they still have a lot of work ahead, mainly concerning the filling of the game world.
The team also shared a fresh screenshot of the current working build of the game and some new information:The game world will be larger than the original by about 15-20 percent.
There will be more missions related to different camps. Many parts of the game world are almost finished, but some places are still at the stage of preparation.
The developers listened to the feedback of fans and made the color scheme of the game darker in comparison with the playable teaser of 2019.
The opening sequence, which many have criticized, will be completely redone. Animations from the demo are replaced with new, smoother ones.
The menu system from the original game will give way to a more modern interface for managing the hero and inventory. The soundtrack will receive both completely new compositions and recycled old ones.
The melodic basis will remain, but the music will have a more pleasant sound and much greater depth. The developers are trying to attract old actors to the voiceover of dialogues.
The combat system is created with the expectation of a different style of play depending on the opponent.
For example, in order not to be torn apart by a pack of wolves, you will need to try to attract them one by one or just bypass them.
In addition, the opponents will not have increasing levels, so if the player, being a beginner, decides to move away from safe paths, he can very quickly meet certain death.
