The head of the European division of Bandai Namco, Arnaud Muller, told GamesIndustry in an interview.

biz that the publisher was satisfied with the results of Elven Ring and is going to strengthen its influence in the West.

The latest development from Software is currently the best-selling game of 2022 in Europe, ahead of FIFA 22 and Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

As of June, 16.6 million copies have been sold worldwide, making Elven Ring Bandai Namco's best-selling game. In addition, it took only three weeks for Elven Ring to reach 12 million copies.

For comparison, Dark Souls 3 took more than four years to overcome the milestone of 10 million copies.

Muller notes that this is not the first success of the Japanese company in the international market, pointing towards Tekken and other successful Bandai Namco products.

However, unlike Tekken, Elven Ring has succeeded in a niche genre that was previously popular mainly with fans.

The head of the European division is sure that one of the reasons for success is to attract a new audience unfamiliar with soul-likes.

According to Muller, Golden Ring takes the genre to the next level. The game definitely exceeded the expectations of both company executives and players.

Mueller notes that Elden Ring is just the beginning: Bandai Namco will continue to work with the Western audience, releasing interesting games.

The company cites the example of One Piece Odyssey from ILCA, The Devil in Me series from Supermassive Games, as well as Park Beyond from the German studio Limbic.
