Marathon is a sci-fi PvP shooter where players take on the role of cybernetic mercenaries who need to fight for wealth and glory.

The authors confirmed in advance that there will be no story campaign in the game. The development of Marathon was previously reported by Tom Henderson.

He described the game as an "ultimate example of a live service" in which you need to choose equipment and go on a mission, the essence of which is to collect resources.

In case of death, all the collected loot is irretrievably lost.

Shortly after the announcement of the reinvention of the franchise, Bungie released a documentary in which she spoke in detail about her vision.

When creating the visual component, the authors tried to find a middle ground between beauty and mystery: they promise "a bold, colorful, stylized, bright, at the same time mysterious, familiar, but at the same time unusual style."

Marathon promises a wide customization of characters and gameplay. Each match will be interactive, and any action of the player in it will be able to influence the final outcome.

For example, one of the developers describes his match: he has already collected all the necessary artifacts and is about to complete the race, but he hears shooting in a nearby building and decides to go there.

It is at such moments that the course of the game changes. Bungie will soon begin alpha testing of the project and delve into development.

Next time, the developers will return with news about Marathon closer to the release, when they are ready to show full-fledged gameplay.

The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X |S. Despite the fact that Bungie has become part of Sony, it will continue to release multiplatform games.
