Visual Concepts executive producer Mark Pierce said that 2K and LEGO approached his studio with a proposal to make a game about five years ago.

According to him, there were many options, but in the end the discussions resulted in the creation of an arcade racing project — LEGO 2K Drive.

According to Pierce, the studio's goal is to create a racing game for all ages. "A lot of complex console games are being released today.

More recently, I've been doing mobile games and toys, where the world is much more laid-back, and I think the whole world has become more laid-back now.

Creating something accessible and playful... a game that parents can play with their children, or siblings can play together, it's just great," says Mark Pierce.

In addition, Pierce noted that he considers LEGO 2K Drive as the start of an entire franchise.

In the future, he would like to work on Drive 2, 3, 4 and even 5, but this, of course, will depend on the commercial success of the first game.

According to the producer, the developers plan to develop the game after the release, and future content for it will go "beyond cars alone."

The team intends to expand the creative potential and add a variety of things to the project.

LEGO 2K Drive is released on May 19 on PC, PlayStation and Xbox consoles of two generations and Nintendo Switch. The game may get collaborations with other well-known brands in the future.
