Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet break all records for the speed of sales

In the first six weeks, the Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet role-playing games have sold 20.6 million copies worldwide, Nintendo announced.

This is an absolute record for the speed of sales among console exclusives and most multiplatform games. 6, 94 million copies fell on the Japanese market, 13, 67 million — on other territories.

The data is current as of December 31. In 2020 , Animal Crossing: New Horizons found 22.40 million buyers in the first 14 weeks.

Interestingly, on the Nintendo Switch, "Pokemon" are in greater demand than it was on the Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo DS and Game Boy Advance.

After Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver, which were released in 1999 on the Game Boy, no part of the series before Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield reached the mark of 20 million copies sold.

In terms of sales for the first quarter, Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet have already secured a place at the top of the rating of the most popular games of the main RPG line.

Sales of Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet began on November 18.

Over the first weekend, the games sold more than 10 million copies.
