Horizon Forbidden West received the first prestigious award — the title of the best game in the last year at the Development: Brighton ceremony.
Not to be confused with "the best game of 2022" — similar results will be summed up in November and December.
Develop: Brighton is the largest European conference for game developers, which is attended by representatives of leading and beginning game studios in the region.
A special jury composed of professional developers also determines the best games released in the past 12 months.
Since the event takes place in the summer, this year the best were chosen among those released from June 2021 to June 2022. During this period, Horizon Forbidden West was recognized as the main game.
Guerrilla Games also won Best Graphics.
Other games won prizes in the following categories: Technical Innovation Prize — Ratchet & Clank: Rift ApartBest New IP — DeathloopBest Story — Life is Strange: True ColorsBest Game Design — UnpackingBest Sound — Marvel's Guardians of the GalaxyBest VR Game — Resident Evil 4 VRBest Game Engine The jury named Unreal Engine.
