During TGA 2022, Sony announced Horizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores. Unlike the main game, which received a crossgen release, the expansion will appear only on PlayStation 5.
In the PlayStation blog, game director Matijs de Jong explained this decision.
According to him, Burning Shores is an ambitious expansion, the events of which will take Aloy to a whole new region of destroyed Los Angeles, which can be fully explored both by water and in the air riding a Lightwing.
In the ruins of the city, players will have to challenge the new big threat from the machines, using all kinds of skills and abilities of Eloy.
Guerrilla notes that in order to realize all the grandiosity of the idea from a technical and creative point of view, they had to make a difficult decision to focus all their efforts on developing exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console.
More details about Burning Shores will be told in the near future. The DLC will be released on April 19, 2023.
