The next game in the Yakuza series, Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, will be released in Western markets on November 9, 2023.

"The once legendary Yakuza Kazuma Kiryu faked his own death and gave up his name in order to protect his family.

Now a mysterious figure, who had been trying to lure the hero out of hiding for a long time, dragged him into a new conflict.

Working under the call sign Jory, Kiryu will embark on a new exciting adventure full of crushing battles, interesting stories, vivid characters and fascinating side events," the description says.

According to the developers, the main mission of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is to tell previously unknown chapters of Kiryu's story.

This project will become a bridge between Yakuza 6 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon (7), and will also smoothly bring players to the plot of Yakuza 8.

The Man Who Erased His Name will become less ambitious against the background of the latest Yakuza releases, but it will still offer the traditional gameplay for the series and a canonical storyline to the general events.

One of the features of the game will be the ability to switch between two styles of combat — as a yakuza, Kiryu will be able to inflict aggressive blows on enemies, bringing down all his strength on them, and in the image of an agent — to beat with extreme precision, using various high-tech devices and improvised means.
