During the development of the original The Last of Us, the Naughty Dog team was largely inspired by the Resident Evil franchise.

But as game director Neil Drakmann explained, his studio was moving in the opposite direction from the format chosen by Capcom and its long-running series.

In particular, when creating The Last of Us, the developers tried to focus not on monsters and scenery, but on narrative lines and the organic development of the characters of the central characters.

"We tried to create a reverse version of Resident Evil, a franchise that I love very much. In this series, the focus is shifted to an insane scale, battles with giant spiders, a variety of monsters.

We were thinking about the nuances of human intimacy, the boundlessness of parental love, about the beautiful and terrible things that can be born of it," Neil Drakmann told reporters.

Recall that Naughty Dog is currently working on two new games. The first is a multiplayer game in the universe of The Last of Us.
