CD Project RED has restarted the development of Project Sirius, a new game in the Witcher universe

CD Project RED studio announced in a statement to investors that the development of the storyline cooperative spin-off The Witcher, codenamed Project Sirius, has been restarted.

The announcement says that the producers reviewed the commercial potential of the project and came to the conclusion that its concept needs to be changed.

We managed to spend 42.9 million zlotys (almost $ 10 million) on the development — these costs will be written off. The production of the project is still managed by the studio The Molasses Flood.

Project Sirius is a story-driven cooperative PvE project.

Recent studio vacancies mentioned a class system, a non-linear plot and an extensive narrative, the presence of several game modes, stylized graphics, "social activities", as well as several types of enemies and weapons.

However, due to the restart of development, some of the listed elements may not end up in the game.

Earlier CD Projeket explained that Project Sirius is conceived as a "Witcher" for the widest possible audience.
