Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is still quite a long way from being released, and very little is known about the project itself.

Nevertheless, on the eve of the release of Avatar 2, some new details regarding the upcoming game also appeared on the network.

In particular, it was confirmed that the story of Frontiers of Pandora is considered canon and takes place during the events of "The Way of Water".

Producer John Landau spoke about this in a recent interview, clarifying how the filmmakers relate to adaptations in other forms of media.

As a rule, they don't want these to be direct adaptations at all. They need new stories taking place in the unknown corners of the fictional universe.

In the case of Frontiers of Pandora, the game will unfold on the western border of Pandora, which has not yet appeared in the franchise.

At the same time, events will develop in the time interval after the beginning of Avatar 2, but before the jump for one year takes place in the film, so we can expect that there will be references to the outgoing tape in the plot.

For example, it is already known that the game will mention General Ardmore, who will appear in the sequel. Ubisoft has announced Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora at E3 2021.

Currently, the game is expected to be released in the period from April 2023 to March 2024.
