A fresh game from “Polish Kojima” Rema Michalski, author of Downfall and The Cat Lady, continues to develop the author's universe of Devil Came Through Here, offering the audience a bleeding dish with a recognizable style.

The new adventure does not just dump scenes of cruelty and classic social drama on the player, but also brings Michalski closer to the work of Park Hoon-jon — especially with his bright debut work “I saw the Devil".

At the center of the story of Burnhouse Lane is nurse Angie Weather, who recently lost her beloved husband and is dying of an incurable disease.

Trying to interrupt her own torment, she decides to take a desperate step, which ends in failure.

A woman vegetating alone takes on another job as a nurse for an elderly grandfather in the English wilderness.

But the measured life on the farm does not even have time to slip into a routine, as Eji opens a portal to the local analogue of Silent Hill — Burnhouse Lane.

Together with strange characters, like a lover of kebabs and women in the body of Omar, she meets an infernal cat here, ready to cure her in exchange for completing five tasks.

So the quite ordinary life of a simple nurse is slowly turning into a hellish marathon of survival.

Using familiar techniques from his past works, Michalski sets a new level of quality for the games of his own universe.

The characters are better drawn and worked out, the light falls realistically on the environment, the animations have noticeably changed, and numerous bizarre locations indicate the amount of work done.

Burnhouse Lane does not imply alternative solutions, but the player can take part in small mini-games, like bottle shooting, winning which unlocks special prizes.

And these toys will not just show off on the shelf in Angie's private room, but will give you small bonuses like special dialogues or additional skills throughout the new game day.

Of course, Burnhouse Lane is a linear adventure, but in this bizarre world between realities, your heroine may still die at the hands of another pervert.

Incorrect or untimely choice of time or dialogue can lead to negative consequences and a rollback to the last save.

There is no automatic saving function here either – only manual dots at the nearest ashtray, which when activated look like separate works of art.

Therefore, a missed save or a stupid mistake can cost you half an hour of progress.

Most of the time, the game is based on the story: there are no complex interactions with objects or search for pixels on the screen.

Everything is quite predictable and understandable — except for some situations where the logic of solving the puzzle looks a little strange.

Also, your decisions affect the relationship with other characters.

Giving a kebab or a cupcake from the refrigerator of a maniac to an eternally hungry redneck, killing yourself or giving the villain to the hellcat to be torn to pieces – all this affects the overall line of the game.

Rare platform inserts and action scenes cause slight disappointment due to the control curve and physics involved here for some reason, but fortunately there are not so many such sections.

Although the Russian localization was not released on the day of the official release, it will be ready in a couple of weeks, which can be considered a real miracle in these difficult times, and for this we can express special gratitude to the author.
