According to GSD, the European sales of Dead Space for the first two weeks were significantly inferior to the sales of The Callisto Protocol for the same time after the release.
In the case of Dead Space, statistics are taken into account both for physical copies and digital ones, including from Steam, whereas in the second case — only for physical versions.
That is, even without taking into account digital sales, The Callisto Protocol started better than Dead Space in both formats.
Experts note that the results could have been influenced by the fact that The Callisto Protocol was launched during the Christmas season — Dead Space came out in the quiet post-holiday period.
In addition, Glenn Schofield's new game is available on consoles of two generations, whereas Dead Space appeared only on the most modern hardware.
However, the old consoles are rapidly losing relevance and most of the sales in any case fall on the next generation.
Dead Space started from the second place in the US chart in January, second only to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II.
On the other hand, in the UK, EA's physical horror sales at the start were more than twice as inferior to The Callisto Protocol.
Despite the fact that in the initial period, the remake of Dead Space proved to be worse in different regions than The Callisto Protocol, Electronic Arts has the opportunity to win back in the long term due to very positive word of mouth.
On Steam, the game has been in the top ten for the third week, while The Callisto Protocol quickly began to lose ground.
