The console version of the space RPG Starfield from Bethesda Game Studios will only work at 30 FPS. This was confirmed by the project's game director Todd Howard in an interview with IGN.

According to Howard, the game is capable of reaching 60 FPS on the Xbox Series X| S, however, the developers decided to block the frame rate at 30 frames per second to ensure the greatest stability, so that during the gameplay players "don't even think" about any performance jumps.

At the same time, on both consoles, Starfield will be able to offer high—resolution images - "full" 4K on the Xbox Series X and 1440p on the Xbox Series S. "I think it won't come as a surprise what we are aiming for, given our previous games.

These are always huge open worlds, completely dynamic, hyper-detailed, where anything can happen.

We really want to achieve this in 4K on X and 1440p on S. We fixed the [frame rate] at 30 FPS because we want to get high definition [images] and all the other [advantages].

We are not going to sacrifice any of this," Howard said. The release of Starfield will take place on September 6 immediately in the Game Pass.

Yesterday, as part of the Xbox Games Showcase 2023, a new story trailer for the game was shown, and then Bethesda held a large-scale gameplay presentation of the project at Starfield Direct.
