It seems that a wave of successful remakes of cult horror films, of which Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space have recently become part, may also affect the Clock Tower franchise.
This was pointed out by a well-known insider Dusk Golem, known for numerous news stories about Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
The rights to Clock Tower belong to the Japanese company Sunsoft, and some time ago Dusk Golem hinted that it was preparing a revival of the franchise with the support of WayForward Technologies.
On April 13, an insider urged horror fans to follow the presentation of Sunsoft, but there was no announcement there.
In correspondence with fans, Dusk Golem confirmed that he was talking about Clock Tower, and expressed surprise at the lack of a game on the stream.
However, he said that the revival of the cult horror is still planned, but when it will be announced, it is still unclear.
The Clock Tower series consists of four games, the last of which, Clock Tower 3, was published by Capcom on PlayStation 2 — in 2003.
The franchise has never been able to boast very high ratings, but it has gained cult status and received two spiritual heirs — Haunting Ground in 2005 and NightCry in 2016.
Clock Tower creator Hifumi Kono was responsible for the latter.
