Hundreds of developers will create a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077

It is planned to attract from 350 to 500 full-time employees of CD Projekt RED to the production of the sequel to the role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077, codenamed Orion.

At the same time, specialists will work in several corners of the globe at once — the main core of developers will be concentrated in the new Boston office, and teams from Vancouver and Warsaw will support it.

Now CD Projekt RED is engaged in the formation and strengthening of its office in Boston — the developers of the original Cyberpunk 2077 are being transferred there, as well as new employees are being hired.

"As for the number of people needed to produce such a project, I think the best reference point is the original Cyberpunk 2077.

We will need from 350 to 500 developers," said Financial Director Peter Nelyubovich.

Obviously, in addition to full-time employees, CD Projekt RED, like all other studios, will also use the services of outsourcers.

It is known that a total of 5,200 people were involved in the production of the original Cyberpunk 2077 — this is taking into account outsourcing, voice actors, localizers and other freelance specialists from different countries.

Recall that the official announcement of the continuation of Cyberpunk 2077 took place a few days ago.

The game is declared as a full-fledged continuation of the first part, but no details are disclosed. Production will start in 2023 — after the premiere of a major plot expansion "Phantom Freedom".
