Sony continues to prove to antitrust regulators the value of Call of Duty as a multiplatform franchise.

Recently, the company sent documents to the British department, which is considering a deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard, where it called the shooter too successful for competitors.

Sony notes that the series of games released annually diverge in large numbers, invariably occupying the top lines of the sales charts.

According to the company, other publishers do not have the proper resources and experience to compete on an equal footing with Call of Duty. Battlefield was mentioned as an example in the document.

Sony notes that Electronic Arts, the largest third-party development studio after Activision, has been trying for many years to create a competitor to Call of Duty.

However, despite the similarity and track record of the company, its franchise is not able to keep up with the Activision shooter.

As of August 2021, more than 400 million copies of Call of Duty have been sold, and Battlefield — only 88.7 million, Sony notes.

Whether regulators will accept the company's arguments and whether the deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard will fail, the question remains open.
