The release of Sonic Frontiers was favorably received by the players, despite the pre-release criticism.
Fans liked the transfer of the blue hedgehog universe to a fully three-dimensional open world, so for sure they will be interested to know that SEGA decided to develop this idea.
In an interview with Sector, the head of the Sonic Team studio, Takashi Iizuka, said that the novelty will form the basis of future games of the franchise.
"Our goal was to create a project that will become the foundation for the upcoming adventures of Sonic.
The game represents a completely new approach to the franchise, but we also tried to consciously treat the classic parts of Sonic — the project should still feel like a game of the series."
Sonic Frontiers was released on November 8, 2022 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
