Assassin's Creed: Codename Red about feudal Japan can become one of the best games in the series for fans of stealthy passage.

This is hinted at by fresh details of the game provided to Insider Gaming on condition of anonymity.

Tom Henderson's sources claim that Codename Red will offer two playable characters — a samurai girl shown in the debut teaser trailer, and a shinobi.

The last one is expected to be an African refugee who has decided to embark on the path of Credo.

The other most interesting detail that Insider Gaming managed to find out is that one of the main accents of Codename Red's design is stealth gameplay.

It is reported that Ubisoft Quebec decided to use an approach in the spirit of Splinter Cell and Hitman in the game — players will be able to hide bodies, hide in tall grass, extinguish light sources to avoid detection in the shadows, and much more.

It is not entirely clear when exactly Ubisoft plans to fully introduce Codename Red, but according to Henderson, this is unlikely to happen during E3 2023.

According to an insider, the main attention at the summer exhibition will be focused on the premiere of the Assassin's Creed Mirage gameplay and the official announcement of the Assassin's Creed Nexus VR project.

The internal release of Assassin's Creed: Codename Red is still scheduled for the fall of 2024, but a postponement to 2025 is also not excluded.
