The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the Nintendo Switch has become the sixth game in history to receive the highest scores simultaneously from the British print edition of EDGE and the authoritative Japanese magazine Famitsu, writes VGC.

In the case of EDGE, the highest score is 10 points, Famitsu — 40 points.

Previously, both publications gave the highest ratings to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998), Bayonetta (2009), The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (2011), Grand Theft Auto V (2013) and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017).

Elden Ring, Grand Theft Auto IV, Red Dead Redemption 2, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Odyssey each received 10 points from EDGE and 39 points out of 40 from Famitsu.

In turn, Dragon Quest IX, Final Fantasy XII, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Metal Gear Solid V, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, SoulCalibur, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim received 40 points each from Famitsu, but only 9 out of 10 from EDGE.

In total, in its 30-year history, EDGE magazine has exhibited "dozens" of 24 games. Famitsu editors have awarded top scores to 28 games over the 37 years of their magazine's existence.
