The line of Call of Duty shooters will continue to be released on a variety of platforms, including PlayStation consoles.

The franchise will not be an exclusive feature of the Xbox brand, as Microsoft management sees such a solution as economically inappropriate.

Such clarification was made in the framework of negotiations with the antitrust authorities of Brazil, which are checking the progress of the merger of Microsoft with Activision Blizzard Publishing House.

"No matter how strange Sony's criticism of content exclusivity is, given that the entire PlayStation strategy has been focused on exclusivity for years, the reality is that keeping Activision Blizzard-developed games within a single console ecosystem will be a highly disadvantageous solution for Microsoft.

Such a strategy would be attractive only if Activision Blizzard games were able to attract the necessary number of users to the consoles of the Xbox brand, as a result of which Microsoft could consistently earn enough money, covering the losses caused by the absence of certain content on other console systems, "Microsoft clarifies.

Continuing the idea, the Microsoft management noted that even if to simulate a situation in which the conditional Call of Duty would become a console exclusive Xbox, in the general context of the market, the American giant would not greatly affect the current "balance of power" — the gaming industry still exists in a very aggressive competition.

And Call of Duty can't change that.

"The hypothetical restriction of content distribution on specific platforms will not only be an economically disadvantageous solution for Microsoft, but in case of successful implementation will not give the company any significant competitive advantage," the document says.

Recall that the upcoming shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, which is scheduled to premiere on October 28, will be released on all current platforms except Nintendo Switch.
