This interesting fact was pointed out by the blog Mario Bouillon for Dinner. "There are only two new Mario games on the market in 2022: Mario + Bunnies: Sparks of Hope and Mario Strikers: Battle League.
It was the most empty Mario game year in three decades since 1990, when only Doctor Mario and
World of Super Mario. Please note that this is not a criticism of Nintendo and
her relationship to the series, but just an interesting observation.
Clearly, other types of Mario content are currently being prioritized, such as the upcoming animated film and theme parks.
Three Mario games were released in 2021, four in 2020. At the same time, at the beginning
2000th Nintendo could release 15 games with a mustachioed plumber a year - taking into account re-releases and guest appearances of the hero.
There have been no new games in the main Mario platformer series for many years. The last new installment in the 3D series, Super Mario Odyssey, was released in 2017, and in the 2D series in 2012.
Rumor has it that Nintendo is now preparing to relaunch the 2D series on the Nintendo Switch. In 2023, the animated film Super Mario Bros. will premiere.
