Dead Space In the US, PlayStation 5 sales are growing, and demand for Xbox Series X|S is declining

In January, PlayStation 5 became the leader in console sales in units and revenue from hardware sales in the United States, the rating agency NPD announced.

Analyst Matt Piscatella confirmed that Sony's platform showed growth on all fronts and it was the best January in its history.

Nintendo Switch, which will soon turn six years old, has also improved its position compared to January 2022, rising to second place both in terms of sales in units and in terms of sales revenue.

In turn, the Xbox Series X|S family was in third place in both parameters, despite the fact that in January Microsoft reduced the price of the Xbox Series S from $299 to $239.

In comments on the Install Base forum, Benji-Sales analyst noted that he was starting to worry about the Xbox Series.

"It seems that Microsoft has lost momentum over the past year, and PlayStation 5, on the contrary, has now begun to actively gain momentum. Starfield needs to be a big hit," he pointed out.

In Europe, sales of the Xbox Series X|S also decreased in January compared to the same period in 2022 — by 32% at once.

As in the USA, the platform ranks third there after the PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. In the US gaming chart for January, the shooter Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II remained the leader.

The remake of Dead Space started from the second place, the tactical RPG Fire Emblem Engage — from the fifth, and the console PS5-exclusive Forspoken — from the seventh.

Recall that the charts are formed by revenue from sales on physical media and in digital format. Nintendo games are ranked solely on physical sales data.
