One of the strengths of the first Hellblade was the expressive audio component, so it is not surprising that fans reacted with some anxiety to the news when it turned out that the upcoming continuation of Senua's Saga: Hellblade II uses Altered AI technology, which is engaged in creating voiceover using neural networks.

Altered AI has a library with the voices of professional actors and ordinary people, on the basis of which customers can order an individual machine voiceover with a change in tone, type of voice and so on.

The technology has already been used in some games, such as The Ascent, and according to media reports, it is also used by Ninja Theory.

Initially, it was not specified how Ninja Theory would use AI voiceover in Hellblade 2, but the studio had to comment with an explanation.

"To avoid misunderstandings, we use artificial intelligence technology only for placeholder content to better understand things like timing and placement in the early stages of development.

After that, we move on to working with the real actors, whose game is at the heart of the implementation of our stories. "

In other words, machine voiceover is used in Senua's Saga: Hellblade II only at the creation stage to facilitate development, while in the final version all voices will be recorded in the tradition of live.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II is created for the Xbox Series X|S and PC, but continues to remain without a release date.
