According to Digital Foundry, the paranormal action Ghostwire: Tokyo works "significantly worse" on the Xbox Series X|S than the PlayStation 5 version, which itself was "not the best."

Speaking on the DF Direct podcast, columnist Oliver Mackenzie shared his first conclusions about the Ghostwire port for Xbox, which will be discussed in more detail later in the full video.

"Speaking in general, the game works worse than on PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series S version is experiencing some problems.

This is really very strange and not exactly what you would expect from a Microsoft developer studio."

"The quality of reflections during ray tracing is somewhat lower and there are errors in shadow alignment with ray tracing."

"The resolution is pretty similar for the most part, but in quality mode it seems to be slightly lower than on PlayStation 5, and performance is usually 5-10% lower than on PlayStation 5 when comparing the same scene."

As for performance, Mackenzie noted that there are two modes available on the Xbox Series S - performance and quality - and there is no ray tracing in either of them.

At the same time, even so, in performance mode, the game runs at a speed below 60 frames per second. Mackenzie recalled that the PS5 version also has its own performance issues.

He hoped that the developers would fix some of them, but the result was the opposite.

Ghostwire: Tokyo was originally released on PS5 and PC in March 2022 and became Bethesda's second project after Deathloop, which received a one-year console exclusivity for the Sony platform before Microsoft acquired the publishing house.

Last week, the game was released on Xbox Series X|S along with a major new update called Spider's Thread and immediately appeared in the Game Pass.
