In 2019, Electronic Arts again began releasing PC versions of its games via Steam, but did not remove the link from them to its own Origin launcher, which opened at launch and worked in the background.

However, this does not apply to every EA novelty sold in the Valve store.

For example, the Steam version of last year's F1 2021 does not require Origin and an Electronic Arts account, and another such exception will be the remake of Dead Space.

In a comment for the PC Gamer portal, EA representatives confirmed that a completely redesigned horror reissue will be available on Steam as a native version.

"Dead Space will be released natively on Steam."

The company did not specify whether this decision is part of a plan to phase out the Origin client for Steam releases, but most likely it will happen on a case-by-case basis.

For example, the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, according to a footnote on the page, will still require online activation of EA, as well as installation and background use of Origin.

The same applies to Need for Speed: Unbound, whereas WILD HEARTS has no mention of third-party DRM yet.

Apparently, the competitor Monster Hunter from Electronic Arts and Koei Tecmo will also be released on Steam "natively".
