The increase in electricity tariffs in a number of countries has forced people to monitor more carefully how much energy their electronics consume.

In an attempt to save money, some gamers are even willing to give up their passion for video games.

Due to the increased attention to this topic, Microsoft has released a new firmware for Xbox consoles with an updated launch settings screen.

The main thing that the update does is to change the names of the power modes so that users can better understand the difference between them.

So, the "Energy Saving" option is now simply called "Shutdown", while "Standby Mode" has been renamed to the more understandable "Sleep".

The first option still supports background update downloads and remote access functions, while the second allows the console to start faster, but consumes more electricity.

At the same time, a widget appeared in the power settings menu that allows you to track the current power consumption of the Xbox in the off state.

At the moment, the firmware is available for testing only to members of the Xbox Insider program. The timing of the full release is not specified.
