2K Games has officially confirmed the development of the new "Mafia".

The official announcement took place on the 20th anniversary of Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven — it was released on PC on August 28, 2002.

On the official website appeared an interview translated into Russian with veterans of the series about the creation of the very first part.

The publisher did not disclose any details of the conditional Mafia 4. According to insiders, Mafia 4 is codenamed Nero and is still in the early stages of production.

It is supposed to be a prequel to the first trilogy, and the developers use Unreal Engine 5 as an engine.

According to rumors, the action of the game will unfold in Sicily between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century.

The plot will evolve around the family of Don Salieri, the boss of Tommy's main character from the first part, and in terms of gameplay the project will continue to adhere to the linear development of history, as in the trilogy.

Hangar 13 is responsible for the development.
