Embracer Group has announced a major deal - the company is going to acquire three studios and the rights to several game series from Square Enix.

In particular, we are talking about Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Thief, Legacy of Kain and more than 50 games from the Square Enix Holdings catalog. Among the studios are Crystal Dynamics, Eidos-Montreal and Square Enix Montreal, which employ about 1,100 employees.

At the same time, Square Enix will continue to publish part of its other game series like Just Cause and Life is Strange. With the agreement, Square Enix expects to adapt to the upcoming "changes in global business" and explore new industries such as blockchain, artificial intelligence and cloud computing.

The total amount of the transaction is $ 300 million - if the agreement is approved by the relevant organizations, it is planned to close it in the second financial quarter of the year, that is, until September 2022.
